Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony
Watching opening ceremony of the winter olympics last night and few things struck me as strange…
1. How normal it feels to see people flying through the air (ever since Soul 1988).
2. How stunning digital projection on a massive canvas can look.
3. How not weird it felt to see a bunch of canadians tap dancing and fiddling like the irish.
4. How much the canadians love canada.
5. How okay I was with the experience turning into a come visit canada marketing exercise.
6. How disney has a lot to answer for.
7. How big 80′s hair is back.
8. How okay it was that the presenters kept refering to us ‘billions’ of viewers watching at home on tv.
9. How the simple spoken word of a beautifully written poem was more engaging then any techno wizardry.
10. How despite all my old man cynicism, this gripping wonder-fest made me want to be canadian. Ah shit.
